From Division to Unity: How Art, Adventure, and Action Can Save Our Planet
“It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent; it is the one most adaptable to change.”
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the fourth edition of Embrace the Planet News! I’m really happy you are spending a bit of time with me here in this space. It means alot- thank you!
What if the greatest battle of our time isn’t political, but spiritual?
We’re drowning in fear, division, and disinformation—engineered to keep us fragmented and hopeless. But here’s the truth: we are not powerless. Consciousness is the battleground, and our most powerful tools are art, storytelling, and media that inspire rather than divide.
This belief drove me to create content for schools, corporations, and return to the speaking circuit. Storytelling—through the lens of adventure, exploration, and the courage of monks and activists—unites and inspires action.
A few years ago, I had the honor of keynoting at The Explorers Club’s Global Exploration Summit (GLEX) in the Azores, where I met Moriba Jah. His call to action for artists, filmmakers, and storytellers is a must-read: 🔗 Raising Consciousness Through Art and Media

❄️ Did You Know?
Polar bears hold a Guinness World Record as the largest land carnivores, weighing up to 1,700 pounds and can measure 8 feet from nose to tail, and take down a walrus if they’re really hungry. Yet, they’re also symbols of climate change.

Every spring, Vancouver Island hosts the herring spawn, a wildlife spectacle that attracts hungry predators like bald eagles, Biggs Orcas, Sea lions, seals and all sort of bird species- it's a wildlife bonanza! During this time:
• Tens of thousands of tonnes of herring move from offshore to coastal waters.
• Female herring lay eggs on intertidal vegetation and rocks.
• Male herring release milt (sperm), turning the waters turquoise.

🌍 Action Items Just for You
We’re living in the “attention economy,” where big tech hijacks our brains. The average North American spends 56 hours/week on media—7 hours a day! Ask yourself:
Is your phone the first thing you reach for in the morning?
Do you check apps repeatedly for notifications?
Are you unable to do chores or walk without consuming content?
Does leaving your phone behind make you anxious?
Do you doom-scroll to relax, only to feel worse?
If you answered yes, it’s time to reclaim your energy. Technology is a tool—don’t let it use you. When I first joined the “Expedition” world there was no internet, no instant gratification or glorification and in 30 years we have seen our entire view of the world change because we now see our world through social media. So let’s get our energy back, lift our gazes up to the night sky- off the tablets, live our lives and take care of each other and have more fun!

Thanks for reading.
Let’s rise above the noise, reclaim our attention, and channel our energy into what truly matters.
Together, we can turn awareness into action, grief into purpose, and solitude into solidarity. The future of our planet—and the legacy we leave for generations to come—starts with the choices we make today. Let’s choose hope, connection, and bold action.
With gratitude, Sunniva xxx
